Bringing Together Communities to Celebrate the Agricultural Sector, Its People, and Its Food. Agriculture for Life will host its 5th annual Harvest Gala fundraiser on October 21, 2016 in Calgary.
The Gala is a unique opportunity to celebrate Alberta’s agricultural roots. Guests will have the opportunity to taste locally prepared foods, experience the sights and sounds of Alberta artists, participate in a silent auction in support of agriculture education and farm safety, and reconnect with friends in the marketplace.
This year’s Harvest Gala will feature keynote speaker, Jack A. Bobo, the Senior Vice President and Chief Communications Officer for Intrexon, a synthetic biology company developing revolutionary solutions to the world’s most pressing problems–in food, energy and health. In June 2015, Mr. Bobo was named by Scientific American one of the 100 most influential people in biotechnology today. His keynote will examine global trends in food and agriculture, the interplay between food safety and public perception of risk and how organizations build trust to navigate these trends

Last year’s event hosted just over 500 guests in celebration of Ag for Life’s mandate to deliver educational programming that serves to improve rural and farm safety, and build a genuine understanding and appreciation of the impact agriculture has on Albertan’s lives.
