Obituary For Indiana Holstein Breeder Jay GodwinDaleville – Jay Arthur Godwin, 78, of Daleville, passed away June 13, 2017, at the St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital in Anderson, IN following a brief illness.

Jay was born March 27, 1939, in Muncie, to the late Robert and Grace (Clark) Godwin. He was a graduate of Yorktown High School, class of 1957, before serving in the U.S. Marines.

He was a farmer most of his life and drove a school bus many years, for Yorktown and Daleville schools. Jay was also a member of the Indiana Holstein Association.

Jay is survived by three daughters, Stephanie Crouch (husband Lennie) of Dunkirk, IN, Marla Stookey (husband Jeff) of Milford, IN and Jessica McMahan of Yorktown; one son, Robert Godwin (wife Missy) of Daleville, IN; brother, Larry Godwin of Yorktown, IN;  sister, Judy Reed (husband Terry) of Daleville; and eleven grandchildren, Maranda Stookey, Mallarie Stookey, Jordan Stookey, Blake Crouch, Justin Crouch, Josh Crouch, Ben Crouch Kaylee Godwin, Katelan Godwin, Kayla Godwin, and Austin Godwin.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Green Godwin, and brother, Robert Godwin.

A funeral service to celebrate Jay’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at Gant Funeral Homes, Yorktown Chapel, 2215 S. Broadway St. in Yorktown, IN. Burial will follow with Military Honors from the United States Marines and the Veterans of Delaware County Honor Guard, in Elm Ridge Cemetery, Muncie, IN.

Friends and family may gather from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, June 19, 2017, and also one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at Gant Funeral Homes, Yorktown Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be given in Jay’s honor to a charity of the donor’s choosing.
