Baraboo, Wis. – Accelerated Genetics recently hired Mitch Kappelman as a Regional Service Specialist, working in eastern Wisconsin. In this position, Kappelman will be working with Accelerated Genetics’ on-farm, computer-mating program GEM (Genetic Evaluation and Mating Program). He will be working with each individual herd’s goals, evaluate each animal, and use Accelerated Genetics’ extensive database and computer program to give each herd the best possible matings to ensure genetic progress.
Kappelman is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he earned a degree in Dairy Science with a business emphasis. Throughout college, he was involved in numerous activities within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. His involvement included serving as President of the Badger Dairy Club and General Chairman of the 2012 Badger Dairy Club World Dairy Expo Committee. In addition, he was a member of the University of Wisconsin-Madison Dairy Judging and Dairy Challenge teams as well as Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity.
Kappelman grew up on his family’s 450-cow, registered Holstein and Brown Swiss dairy farm north of Manitowoc, Wis.
