MADISON — Wisconsin dairy farmers with plans to make their operations more profitable and productive have until Jan. 15 to apply for the Grow Wisconsin Dairy 30×20 Grant.
Milk producers could use the grant to cover costs involved with business planning, financial analysis, farm transition planning or farm transfers. Projects such as designing new milking parlors, robotic milking systems or waste-handling systems would qualify for the grant.
So would the costs of planning for improved milk production including the cost of veterinary, nutrition or agronomy professionals. Recipients could be awarded as much as $5,000; they must pay a cost share of 20 percent of the total grant amount.
The Grow Wisconsin Dairy 30×20 program was developed to support the viability and diversity of Wisconsin’s dairy industry in the long term and to help reach a goal of producing 30 billion pounds of milk annually by 2020.
Applications are due to the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) by Jan. 15, 2015. Application materials and more information are available here
