Future Leaders Scholarship Winners Announced

The Ontario Dairy Joint Breeds Committee is excited to announce the recipients of their third annual Future Leaders Scholarship.

Celeste Cook and Deanna Ringelberg are the winners of the $1,000 scholarships. These are given to young people in the agricultural industry for their involvement, accomplishments and leadership achievements. The winners have begun to take on positions of leadership within various organizations and demonstrated commitment and shown potential for future achievement.

The future leaders have focused their post-secondary education in the agricultural field as well as participated in activities where they have taken a leadership role.

Celeste Cook is from Stratford and is currently going into her final year at the University of Guelph with her course in Honours Agriculture. She has been very active in the Perth County 4-H program and that has led to continued involvement at the university level. Celeste was Communications Director for her class and also took on a role with the Student Federation of the Ontario Agricultural College. She competed in Florida for the Student CAMA chapter at the U of G where they created an agricultural product and presented a marketing plan. Celeste is the Youth Feature writer for the Link. She is gaining practical experience at Comestar Holsteins this summer and hopes to take what she has learned back to her home dairy farm where she has ambitious goals to achieve.

Deanna Ringelberg has shown to be a very active young woman in the 4-H world as well as in her community. The Wentworth Region native has completed 42 4-H projects and accumulated 380 volunteer hours during her high school career. As well as being an active part of her family’s dairy farm, Deanna currently volunteers with the Rockton Fair, Dundas Calvin Christian School and Brant-Wentworth Holstein Club activities. The TD Canadian 4-H Dairy Classic, 4-H Field Crops and the Canadian Young Speakers for Agriculture are activities that Deanna has competed in at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair. She is entering into her second year of the Bachelor of Commerce (Agricultural Business) course at the University of Guelph and plans to become involved with a financial institution that focuses on agriculture in the future.
