Today the Holstein world is mourning the loss of Bryan Challenor, but at the same time celebrating the fact they knew him.

A successful farmer, businessman and salesman extraordinaire, Bryan touched the lives of many. The word legendary is used too frequently in today’s society, but Bryan epitomised the meaning of the word. Kind-hearted and compassionate; Knowledgeable and professional; Humorous and entertaining, Bryan’s career within the Holstein industry leaves an indelible impression on the breed.

His long term involvement with Semen World and then as a Livestock Director and UK Ambassador for World Wide Sires, saw him travel all over the world. Internationally renowned and respected, Bryan was a familiar figure at ringside, and was well known for his entertaining farming tours, which were “legendary” in their own right!

His generous nature and kind-hearted personality were reflected, when family, friends, colleagues and associates collaborated to raise funds for M.N.D, which resulted in £86,492 being presented to the charity- the highest amount ever by one person.

Bryan was a recipient of the Holstein UK Howard Sneesby award in 2014. Awarded to a person who has made a significant difference to others through constant support and encouragement, Bryan epitomised the meaning of this honour. Always one to offer advice and support, Bryan was quick to help many young people get their foot on the ladder. If you were honest and worked hard, he would go out of his way to help you. He was a mentor to many, and helped many get started within the industry.

Our thoughts go out to his wife Marion, and children Nick, Catherine and Lizzie, and to all his extended family including Coryn and Rhian. Bryan was immensely proud of them all and all that they achieved, including his beloved grand-children.
