Ayrshire and Brown Swiss Judges Named for UK Dairy Day 2024 Shows

UK Dairy Day will host the National Shows for the Ayrshire and Brown Swiss dairy breeds at the 10th anniversary event on Wednesday, September 11th at Telford, along with hosting the National Holstein Show.

The event looks forward to welcoming dairy exhibitors from across the UK to complete in what was the largest show of in-milk cows seen last year in Britain. 

The 2024 National Show Judge for the Ayrshire classes is Ian Collins, and for the Brown Swiss classes, the judge is Blaise Tomlinson.

National Ayrshire Judge: Ian Collins
UK Dairy Day will welcome Ian Collins as the judge chosen by the Ayrshire Cattle Society for their National Show. Ian is the owner and breeder of the Churchroyd herd after farming in partnership with his late parents. He has been involved with the Ayrshire Society since he was 10 years old where he competed in the young members competitions at the royal show. He is an experienced judge, being on several breed panels, and having judged the Ayrshire calves at the National Calf Show to interbreed classes in the UK and overseas.

National Brown Swiss Judge:  Blaise Tomlinson
Leicestershire dairy farmer Blaise Tomlinson has been selected by the Brown Swiss Cattle Society to judge the National Brown Swiss Show. Blaise, along with his wife Deborah,runs the renowned Sandyford herd comprising 200 Holsteins and 50 Ayrshires in Loughborough, Leicestershire. They have been showing cows for nearly 40 years, and have enjoyed much success along the way winning interbreed titles at The Royal, Royal Welsh, AgriScot, Great Yorkshire and South West Dairy Show, to name just a few. They are proud to have been premier breeders in the Ayrshire breed for 5 out of the last 10 years. Blaise has judged at many local and National shows all over Great Britain and Ireland, as well as Australia, South Africa and the Island of Jersey.

The National Holstein Show judge, announced in November, is Marcel Egli from Lucerne, Switzerland. With a wealth of judging experience behind him. Marcel works for the breeding association, Swiss Herdbook, as a breeding advisor throughout Switzerland and is a familiar face at dairy shows across Europe.

UK Dairy Day is the premier event in the dairy industry calendar, drawing cattle exhibitors, trade stands and visitors from all corners of the UK. Live streaming of the cattle show will be available so the top dairy animals on show can be viewed worldwide.
