Ag For Life Promotes Canadian Agricultural Safety Week

Be an Ag Safe Family – Keeping Kids Safe
(Calgary, AB, March 8, 2016) – As a Friend of Canadian Agricultural Safety Week (CASW), Agriculture for Life will host four Rural and Farm Safety Days throughout the week of March 13 – 19, 2016, reaching over 350 children, youth and adults with safety programming.

“Partnering with the Canadian Agriculture Safety Association on the CASW campaign is the perfect opportunity to raise awareness of the importance of safe agriculture amongst children, youth and adults,” adds Ag for Life CEO, Luree Williamson.  “Encouraging our farm families and communities to talk about safety during CASW is a great way to raise the awareness of keeping everyone safe.”

The focus of the safety events is to provide participants with hands-on, engaging, educational programming geared at keeping themselves and those around them safe.  Participants learn about a wide variety of safety topics delivered by local volunteers and safety experts.  Topic examples include grain, large equipment, powerline, pipeline, first-aid and work alone strategies. Safety Days will take place March 14th in Acme targeting young farm workers; Ladies Farm Safety on March 15th and 16th in Vegreville and Balzac and Indus on March 17th.

Rocky Mountain Equipment is among those delivering safety messaging to the event participants.

“Whether it is within our branches, or in the communities we serve, promoting and improving a culture of safety is a major focus at Rocky,” remarked Garrett Ganden, President & CEO.  “In partnering with Ag for Life on these initiatives, we are able to give back to the community by sharing best practices and by helping to instill a “safety-first” mindset throughout the agricultural community.”
