Ag For Life Promotes Canadian Agricultural Safety Week 2015 in Alberta

(CALGARY, AB, March 12, 2015) – As a sponsor of Canadian Agricultural Safety Week (CASW), Agriculture for Life will host three Safety Days reaching close to 250 children, young farm workers and adults throughout the week of March 15 – 21, 2015.

Safety events teach children and adults to keep themselves and those around them safe and healthy. Participants learn about a wide variety of safety topics delivered by local volunteers and safety experts. Topic examples include chemical, large equipment, overhead powerline and pipeline safety. The Safety Day events take place March 16th in Acme targeting young farm workers, March 18th in Balzac with a farm ladies event, and March 20th in Leduc reaching students in grades k-6.
Rocky Mountain Equipment is among those delivering safety messaging to the students. “The safety of families in rural communities is a responsibility that our company takes very seriously,” says Garrett Ganden, CEO Rocky Mountain Equipment. “Participating in safety days is one of the ways we make sure communities stay safe.”
CASW is a national, public education campaign focusing on the importance of safe agriculture. The campaign takes place every year in the third week of March. This year’s theme is Be the Difference. For more information on CASA and CASW initiatives visit www.agsafetyweek.ca/.
“Partnering with the Canadian Agriculture Safety Association on the CASW campaign is the perfect opportunity to raise awareness of the importance of safe agriculture amongst children, youth and adults,” adds Ag for Life CEO, Luree Williamson. “Agriculture is the second largest industry in Alberta and an important part of our way of life, so we see the safety of all those involved as a high priority. Encouraging our farm families and communities to talk about safety during CASW is a great way to raise the awareness of keeping everyone safe.”
Ag for Life and its partners are demonstrating a strong commitment to agricultural safety. Their support of Canadian Agricultural Safety Week helps to reinforce the importance of farm safety across the entire agricultural sector, from the corporate level to the community level,” says Marcel Hacault, Executive Director of the Canadian Agricultural Safety Association.
