Ag for Life Participates in Birdies for Kids presented by AltaLink

Ag for Life is pleased to announce it has been selected as one of the participating charities in the Shaw Charity Classic charity initiative Birdies for Kids presented by AltaLink (BFK). The Shaw Charity Classic aims to not only provide Calgary with a world-class professional sporting event accessible to families, but also to bring much needed dollars to local charities such as Ag for Life.

In 2015, the Shaw Charity Classic launched Birdies for Kids as a new opportunity to benefit children and youth through the support of charities such as Ag for Life. Ag for Life will receive 100% of every donation collected on their behalf with no fees, and will receive up to 50% in extra funding through the matching program.

“With the funds raised through Birdies for Kids we will continue to expand the reach of our Young Farm Workers Safety program into communities throughout Alberta,” says Luree Williamson, Ag for Life CEO. “This program brings much needed safety programming to young adults who live on, work at, or visit farms throughout Alberta,” adds Williamson.

With a mandate to deliver curriculum-based educational programming that serves to improve rural and farm safety and build a genuine understanding and appreciation of the impact agriculture has on Albertan’s lives, Ag for Life funded programs reached over 50,000 Alberta children, youth and adults in 2014.

Ag for Life’s supported programs include the Classroom Agriculture Program, Little Green Thumbs, Alberta Open Farm Days, City Slickers On-Farm Education, Growing Minds (Neubauer Farms), Alberta Women’s Institute Food and Farmers Project, Rural and Farm Safety Days, the Rollover Simulator Project and the Barnyard and Boots Program.
