Oswalt began his career at Select Sires in 2008 as a Program for Genetic Advancement™ (PGA™) specialist in California’s central valley improving large-herd sire identification. He has served as the dairy genetics administrator since 2009 where he oversaw the large numbers of genomic tests ordered each year, created the processes of delivering genomic evaluations, provided support to the dairy sire team and was key in the development and operations of Aggressive Reproductive Technologies™ (ART™). More recently, he took on the responsibilities of Ayrshire and Brown Swiss sire analyst. Oswalt holds an associate’s degree in biotechnology from Sinclair College in Dayton, Ohio where he gained experience in DNA sequencing, bioinformatics and molecular biology.

Oswalt grew up on a small Brown Swiss farm in Union City, Ohio where he developed a passion for cattle genetics. Along with his family, he has competed regularly at state and national shows and has bred several All-Americans and nominees under the prefix North Lane. Oswalt resides in Springfield, Ohio with his wife, Kimberly.
