Two Area Managers Appointed at CIS

As the Cattle Information Service (CIS), based in Telford, Shropshire heads into the New Year, the business is delighted to announce the appointment of two new team members. CIS, the UK’s leading milk recording organisation, welcomes Bernadette Crayston and Mandy Jameson as Area Managers, both taking over counties previously covered by long serving Regional Manager, Sue Joyce, who retires March 2018.

CIS Area Managers promote the excellent work that CIS and Holstein UK do for its growing customer and member base across the UK. As Area Managers, Bernadette and Mandy will be required to liaise with farmers, develop good working relationships and maintain the exceptional level of service delivered to customers to assist their farm, business and herd. Other aspects of the role will include HR, business development, health and safety, coordinating milk recorders and assisting in the management of milk records.

Bernadette Crayston joins CIS after 25 years farming with her husband. Together they ran a pedigree

Bernadette was drawn to CIS as Area Manager to develop her knowledge of the dairy industry and will now be covering Cheshire, Conwy, Clwyd, Denbighshire, Flintshire, Gwynedd, Isle of Anglesey, Merseyside, Powys (north), Shropshire and Wrexham.

She says; “I am thoroughly looking forward to getting out on farm and building relationships with my farming customers. It will be my responsibility to connect farmers, the milk recorders and the services we offer to ensure the complete cycle runs smoothly. My absolute priority is to facilitate farmers and deliver exactly what they require. With a Higher National Diploma in Agriculture and having run my own dairy farm for the last 25 years, farming really is my passion and life. In the next 12 months I intend to continue to learn, build relationships and expand on the number of farms currently using CIS services.”

Mandy approaches CIS from the public sector where she has been working in Health & Education as a Finance/Business Manager. Mandy’s parents own a dairy farm in West Wales where they milked until their retirement in 1996. During this time Mandy supported the farm where possible, managing youngstock and helping with general farm tasks.

Mandy said; “When I heard about the position at CIS it made me consider and re-evaluate my career path. It has provided an opportunity for me to reignite my interest of the farming industry. I love the countryside, livestock and meeting new people so I really feel I can thrive at CIS. Most of my family have a connection to farming whether through milking, showing, or food production so I have a genuine understanding of the field to food supply chain and have an abundance of enthusiasm towards supporting British agriculture. As Area Manager for Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire I intend to build on good working relationships with customers, continue to develop new business and work closely with colleagues and contractors to further strengthen CIS’s presence in South West Wales.”
