To celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the New York Holstein Association, we are holding a contest to celebrate the tremendous Holstein cows that have called New York home over the last 100 years. This contest is for cows either bred here in New York or owned at some point by New Yorkers. We will be taking nominations for New York’s Cows of the Century contest until February 7th.
We invite you to nominate great New York cows – whether she made her name in the showring, or the milk tank; as the dam of great offspring, or as a genomic powerhouse; as a high-scoring barn favorite, or as a lifetime production queen. There is no category or criteria, if you think she deserves to be a New York Cow of the Century, please nominate her. Furthermore, nominations don’t need to come from the owner or breeder of a cow, if you’ve always admired a New York cow, past or present, you can submit her, and there is no limit to the number of cows you can nominate. Nominations will be judged by a panel of esteemed NYHA members. The New York Cows of the Century will then be highlighted throughout 2020 at NYHA events and through the News and Facebook page.
To nominate a cow, please either email the information below to nycowsofthecentury@gmail.com or mail the application to: Lynnette Wright, 138 Grove St., North Syracuse, NY 13212, by February 7th. Please fill in as much information as you can.
