Ben and Suzanne Cuthbert along with Thomas and Catherine Cuthbert run and own Silvermaple Holsteins. They began farming at the home farm in 1988. Prior to that, Ben farmed with his brothers and in 1988 he branched out on his own with 40 cows.
The farm raised Purebred Holsteins, with 110 milking cows, 30 dry cows and 160 young stock. They currently milk 110 cows in 2 DeLavel Robots, which were installed in 2017. Farm 300 acres and grow corn and hay, while purchasing Alfalfa.
Silvermaple focuses primarily on conformation and cow families. They are currently switching some of their focus towards production and components on certain families, but without sacrificing conformation on those families. Current sires include: Undenied, Apple Crisp, Sidekick & Tatoo.
“Silvermaple Damion Camomile – she really put us on the map internationally when she was Intermediate Champion & Reserve Grand at World Dairy Expo in 2011.” Camomile was also Intermediate Champion at the Royal that year after winning the Junior 3 Year Old Class. She also won her class at the Royal as a Junior 2 Year Old in 2010, after finishing 4that WDE that year. Camomile is a 2X All-American & All-Canadian winner, and her daughters and granddaughters have continued her legacy at many high profile shows.
Other families they work with are: Krull Broker Elegance, Wedgwood Trixie Gibson, Markwell BStar E Raven and Dubeau Dundee Hezbollah.
