The Massachusetts Blue Ribbon Calf Sale was held on March 21, 2015 in the Mallary Complex at the Eastern States Exposition, West Springfield, MA. Calves sold to ten different states, with a $1705 average on 64 lots.

The Massachusetts Blue Ribbon Calf Sale was held on March 21, 2015 in the Mallary Complex at the Eastern States Exposition, West Springfield, MA. Calves sold to ten different states. Many were purchased through phone-in bids.

Auctioneer Jack Lomeo kept the crowd entertained with assistance on pedigrees by Rick Allyn.

The overall high selling calf was Lot 51,  a fancy Sept. 2014 Windbrook from the Cookiecutter Shthollerwood 2E92 cow that combines genomics and 8 generations of EX mammaries sold for $4200. She sold absentee due to ringworm. Consigned by John & Denise Dickinson, NY.  Lindsey Clark from NH was the buyer.

Second high at $4000 was Lot #43 ,a Brokaw December 2014 calf from the Goldwyn Hawaii EX92, 2nd Dam EX95 and third dam America’s sweetheart Hazel EX96. Consigned by Woodcrest Dairy LLC, NY and purchased by Michael Wolfe, CT

High Ayrshire at $3100 was Lot #67,  a Fancy December 2014 Poker daughter that you will be hearing about this summer. Backed by two EX 93 dams with All American recognitions. Consigned by Megan Davenport, CT and purchased by Lillys Lane Farm, CT.

High Brown Swiss at $2025 was Lot #65, a March 2015 Bruno out of a VG 85 Vigor consigned by Jason Demay, NY and purchased by junior member, Grace Balogh, CT.

High Guernsey was from Wabanaki Farm, Lois Whitcomb, Belfast, ME, Lot #14 sold for $2100, a December 2014 Crunch Isaac from two generations of EX dams. She sold to first time buyer, Kaylan Schofield, MA.

A tie for the high selling Jersey at $2400, Lot #23, a fancy December 2014 Verbatim Response out of a VG 88 Jade daughter from Tierney Farm, NY sold via phone bid to Jason Steinlage, IA and Lot #31, a September 2014 Tequila out of anEX 93 TBone. This calf was a potential 5th generation Excellent. She was purchased by Barry Nadon, MA.

The Milking Shorthorn top seller was Lot #22, a stylish summer yearling consigned by GMC Farm, NH and sold for $1675 to Ed Hills, CT

March 21, 2015, sale begins at noon Mallary Complex, Eastern States Exposition Center, West Springfield, MA Youth seminars begin at 10am, featuring artificial insemination, halter making and what NOT to wear in the showring. Youth will receive 5% off the purchase price of one animal.
