DARTHOGUE HERD HITS THE MARK

The first sale to disperse the milking portion of the Darthogue herd for Jim Fisher, Mark Farm, Stranraer took place on Wednesday 23rd evident that buyers are only wanting freshly calved cows and heifers with a packed ring side and very brisk bidding for this freshly calved portion of the herd.
60 fresh cows and heifers sold to average £2013.55. The first cow to sell was a fresh sixth calve cow giving 37kg she sold for 1,420gns. The cows were uniform with super udders, lot after lot each cow seemed to improve. The second lactation cows stole the show with a big percentage of them being sired by Glasson Balistic, a Comestar Outside son from the Bailse family renowned for breeding cows with great udders and super fitness traits. Topping the sale was one of his daughters giving 40kg she sold for 2,700gns to N&SJ Sanderson, Burtholme Farm, Brampton.
The second sale to disperse the herd is planned for December 18th selling will be no more than six weeks calved.
