A young red and white Holstein bull which has become one of the top sellers from the Dairy Daughters stud, has earned a VG85 type classification at less than 20 months of age.
Panda Redfactor Red (dam – Stoneden Fools Gold Red) was launched by the company earlier this summer, and attracted particular attention as a carrier of the rare ‘variant red’ gene. This means that he has the potential to breed a red and white daughter, irrespective of whether he is bred to a black and white or red and white cow.
Now with the added attraction of having a high type score at such an early age himself, the signs are encouraging that he will also transmit high type on to his daughters.
His own type score is backed by a good Predicted Transmitting Ability (PTA) for type, with a linear profile which suggests his daughters will be deep-bodied, angular dairy cows with great legs, feet and locomotion.
