Select Sires is thrilled to introduce the newest member of the millionaire club, 250HO12961 Woodcrest King DOC (EX-90). With more than 1,000,000 units sold, DOC has made history as the first Showcase™ sire to reach millionaire status. In June 2025, DOC passed away, just a few months shy of his tenth birthday, but his legacy of producing balanced breed-leading genetics lives on.
“Today’s A.I. industry is fast paced. The speed of genetic advancement is unprecedented,” said Rick VerBeek, senior Holstein sire analyst, Select Sires Inc. “Much of this advancement is driven by young sires and while our GForce™ program continues to grow, influential daughter-proven genetics will always be our goal. It is both exciting and gratifying to see DOC achieve this monumental milestone.”
Known by breeders as King DOC, he certainly lived up to his name and DOC’s genetics continue to reign supreme. DOC continues to be known for siring crossover cows – cows that thrive in progressive dairies while also performing well in the show ring. DOC has been a patriarch of Select Sires’ Showcase program for many years, with his daughters claiming purple banners and blue ribbons at national shows around the world. Perhaps one of DOC’s most exciting accomplishments was the historic sale of his daughter S-S-I Doc Have Not 8784-ET (EX-96-EX-MS-DOM) for $1.925 million.
“Within the Showcase program, DOC defined crossover for the past decade,” said Kevin Jorgensen, senior Holstein sire analyst. “He expertly transmits yield, components, type and udder conformation to his offspring. His daughters continue to top the charts, and they are extremely competitive in the show ring. It was an honor to work with DOC and introduce his genetics to dairy breeders around the world.”
DOC was a 7HO12198 KINGBOY son from WCD-ZBW Mack Daddy (VG-88-VG-MS) and bred by Woodcrest Dairy LLC in Lisbon, New York. His dam garnered impressive milk records and was a barn favorite of the Cruikshank family. Early in his career, DOC was highlighted for his combination of production and Type values. As his daughters calved and his genomic data was validated, it was clear that DOC was a global standout. There is no doubt that DOC’s sons and daughters will continue to influence the breed.
