In 2016 the Wisconsin 4-H Dairy Quiz Bowl and Management contests will move to the UW Madison campus and will be held on Saturday January 30, 2016. Entries for the Wisconsin 4-H Dairy Quiz Bowl and Management contests on are due on January 15, 2016. The event will start at 9:45am in the Sewell Social Science Building, which is the building next to the bell tower, and will cost $10 per team.
In the dairy bowl, contestants will answer a variety of questions about dairy cattle. All questions will come from the sources listed in the official dairy bowl rules which can be found on the Wisconsin Dairy Youth website at http://fyi.uwex.edu/dairyyouth/. Teams compete in a double elimination format by giving oral answers to questions posed by the moderator. There will be three divisions; Junior, Senior and Mixed which may be composed of both Junior and Senior aged participants. Junior participants must be 4-H members up to age 13 on January 1, 2016 and Senior participants must be aged 14-18 on January 1, 2016.
The winning Senior dairy bowl team will represent Wisconsin at the Invitational 4-H youth Dairy Bowl Contest at the North American International Livestock Exposition (N.A.I.L.E) in Louisville, KY.
The Dairy Management contest will be held on the same day as the Quiz Bowl Contest and is open to both Junior and Senior aged participants. The 2016 Junior Dairy Management contest will focus on dairy cattle reproduction while the Senior contest could have questions related to the entire dairy industry.
The winning Senior management team will represent Wisconsin at the All-American Junior Dairy Management Contest in Harrisburg, PA.
