(Calgary, July 12, 2016) – Working in collaboration with farms, ranches and program partners, Agriculture for Life is launching a province-wide “What’s in the Field” public campaign this summer targeting Alberta consumers in an effort to raise awareness of Alberta agriculture and its connection to our lives.
“This exciting initiative highlights all facets of Alberta agriculture at the right time and right place – in the fields,” says Ag for Life CEO Luree Williamson. “The What’s in the Field” campaign gives Albertans the opportunity to learn and understand where their food comes from, while at the same time giving producers the opportunity to work together to showcase the industry and their crops or livestock,” adds Williamson.
As families travel throughout Alberta during the peak summer months, educational signs will be erected showcasing “What’s in the Field,” from canola to corn to llamas to the breed of cattle grazing the lands. “Great games of ‘guess that crop/breed’ will now have answers,” notes Williamson.
Farmers and ranchers can participate by signing up online to receive their field signs at: http://agricultureforlife.ca/whats-in-the-field/. There is no fee to participate.
Sponsors can learn more about supporting the campaign by emailing info@agricultureforlife.ca.
The annual campaign will run from July to October with new educational components added each year to enhance the excitement as we all learn “What’s in the Field!”
