The Washington State Holstein Convention was hosted by the Whatcom County Holstein Club at the Silver Reef Casino in Ferndale WA on February 13th.
The event saw a great turn-out with people being drawn in by a phenomenal sale line-up for the Pride of Washington Sale, a delicious banquet as well as a great awards presentation recognizing the top Junior members as well as several other outstanding individuals within the Holstein industry in the State of Washington.
The first award presented was the Hannah Zylstra Memorial Award which was presented to the Top Youth Showman. This years recipient went to Mieke Van Ess of Duvall. The Junior member demonstrating outstanding leadership and sportsmanship was presented with the Dan Frohning Memorial Award and this years recipient went to Marcy Bartelheimer.
Maynard Axelson presented the PDCA Hall of Fame Inductee this year and the recipient was Mr. Darrel Ricci.
The Mr. Holstein Award winner went to Ron Starkenburg and was presented by Sherman Polinder. The Young Breeder Award went to Seth Snook who was presented with the award by Scott Hilt.
The Master Breeder Award was presented by Ron Boon and this years recipient went to Mark VanMersbergen with Markwell Holsteins of Lynden.
