Vermont Dairy Farmer Proposes Wind Turbine to Sustain Farm

A Vermont dairy farmer has partnered with a local wind developer to bring a 2.2-megawatt wind turbine to his family’s farm in Holland, Vt.

The Caledonian Record reports Brian Champney and David Blittersdorf of AllEarth Renewables and VERA Renewables announced their plans Tuesday to build a single turbine on Champney’s Dairy Air Farm.

Blittersdorf called the project “an exciting opportunity” to help Champney sustain his family-run dairy farm through the generation of renewable energy while also contributing tax revenue to the town and advancing Vermont’s renewable energy economy.

Champney says he contacted VERA Renewables last year to help him realize his vision for generating wind power on his farm.

The project still needs a certificate of public good approval from the Public Service Board and other permits to move forward.
