The December all milk price of $21.80 per cwt is up 20 cents from last month and $1.00 higher than December 2012.
The December beef cattle price is sitting $6.00 higher than December 2012 and is currently at $130 cwt. The December corn price is down $2.56 from a year ago at $4.31/bu. Alfalfa hay has also shown a drop in price at $187/ton which is $30/ton less than a year ago.
With the price of milk being up and the corn prices decreasing, dairy farmers across the USA are feeling quite optimistic going into 2014. Dairy producers in California are finally seeing a break and are once again seeing a profit.
