Spring Sale Success Continues Throughout Late April

Through a mix of online and in-person events, thousands of purebred dairy cattle have found new homes, different owners and untapped potential. Here are some highlights from sale rings across North America in late April!

Quest for Success VI
You can always count on Ryan-Vu Holsteins and Bella-View Holsteins to assemble a breathtaking lineup for their Quest for Success series. The sixth edition was no exception! On Monday, April 17, 127 lots of all breeds were auctioned off for a final sale average of $7,525.
High seller:
Lot 1 – $65,000 – Retso Sidekick Charlene-ET, the VG-88 Unanimous All-American Jr. 2-year-old in 2022. She’s fresh again in March and ready to run for her new owners this summer and fall!

Heritage Holsteins Online Sale
Just 10 head sold on Heritage Holsteins’ online auction via cattleclub.com, but all are of nice quality and from top pedigrees. Buyers from six states and one Canadian province placed a winning bid on Friday, April 21 for an average of $4,720.
High seller:
Lot 5 – $10,300 – Gildale Best Heritage, a winter calf for 2023 from EX-92 Diamondback x Goldwyn Hatty EX-96 x Stormy Hazel EX-96.

The Best of Triple-T & Heath Sale
The final edition of The Best of Triple-T and Heath Sale series took place on April 22 in Circleville, OH. It was a great one for Nathan & Jenny Thomas and Michael Heath as 144 lots averaged an impressive $6,642!
High seller:
Lot 24J – $35,000 – Big Guns Kid Rock Villa-ET, a 3/22 Kid Rock out of Big Guns Jamaica Vanilla EX-95 that was 1st spring yearling & Junior Champion at the 2023 New York Spring Jersey Show.

Timza Holsteins & North Fashions Dispersal
The Timza Holsteins & North Fashions Dispersal attracted quite the crowd for one last hurrah at the farm! After the 61 lots passed through the sale ring, the final average was $2,800.
High seller:
Lot 1 – $6,000 – Timza Atwood Vintage, a youthful aged cow scored EX-94 2E with a lifetime record of 112,238 lbs and due back in December with a ThunderStorm baby!

Mid Atlantic Brown Swiss Calf Sale
The 49th Mid Atlantic Brown Swiss Calf Sale was held Tuesday, April 25 and offered a quality lineup of 41 live Brown Swiss calf and heifer projects averaging $2,888 when the day was through.
High seller:
Lot 4 – $7,100 – Blessing Garbro F Whitney, a Famous fall calf granddaughter of the Brown Swiss breed icon, Top Acres Supreme Wizard EX-95 3E.

43rd Annual Blue Halter Sale
The Pennsylvania Guernsey Breeders’ Association organized a great event for their 43rd Annual Blue Halter Guernsey Sale with the annual meeting and banquet on April 21 and the sale following the next day. In total, calves and heifers averaged $3,538 while the cows averaged a solid $3,089.
High seller:
Lot 1 – $10,500 – Choice of Prestidge x Michelangelo spring salves

Born to Show Sale
The Crawford Co. Holstein Association hosted their annual Born to Show Sale featuring yet another stellar lineup hand-selected by President, Larry Tobin. Lots were auctioned off on Saturday, April 22 in the evening with Fraley Auction Co. handling the in-person duties and Cowbuyer drawing in an audience online. All said and done, the sale averaged $2,353 on the 86 lots.
High seller:
Lot 90 – $10,250 – Cedar-Isle Denver Chesley, the winning fall calf at the 2023 New York Spring Holstein Show who is over 3.00 on type.

Spring Colors at Quietcove
The Elsass family put together an outstanding offering of cattle for the Spring Colors at Quietcove sale on Monday, April 24. After the 77 head of Holsteins, Brown Swiss, Jerseys and Red & Whites passed through the sale arena under auctioneer Ryan Krohlow, the final average was $5,661.
High seller:
Lot 8 – $35,000 – KCJF\Lucky Lady Dare to Dream-ET, a fall calf sired by Victorious from the 2x National Champion, Hirds Colton Dream EX-97.

Spring Styles at Karnview
Karnview Farms recently held a small, online sale via Unique’s online platform with a number of their own homebred offerings and a handful of select consignments. When the last lot closed, 32 total head were hammered off to new homes averaging $7,544.
High seller:
Lot 1 – $50,200 – Hodglynn Altitude Mallory, a fall calf for 2023 and maternal sister to the one and only MAPLE!

Cobleskill College Dairy Fashion Sale
The SUNY Cobleskill Dairy Cattle Club successfully held their 40th Dairy Fashions Sale on Saturday, April 29 at the Schoharie County Fairgrounds. 109 lots sold, averaging $2,593 in support of the club.
High seller:
Lot 1 – $11,000 – IVF session from Cookiecutter Drv Hovelia-ET who is followed by 11 generations of high VG or EX dams.

Liddleridge at Liddleholme Tag Sale
The Liddles in Argyle, NY hosted a tag sale via Cowbuyer on Saturday, April 29. The final average for 43 lots, including a sprinkling of guest consignments, was $6,405 with a gross of $275,449.
High seller:
Lot 10 – $57,000 – Cookiecutter DBX Hopebox-ET, a 1/5/23 winter calf from numerous VG or EX dams back to the great Snow-N-Denises Dellia EX-95. And she’s the #1 Dropbox female in the Holstein breed!
