Select Sires Genervations is pleased to announce the hiring of Garry Vanderpost as sales representative for Saskatchewan effective November 17, 2014. Garry will be replacing Cameron Houle who previously represented Select Sires Genervations.
Garry comes to Select Sires Genervations with a wealth of knowledge and experience through his lifetime involvement in the dairy industry. Garry is a graduate of the University of Guelph and began his career as a regional sales manager for Western Breeders back in the late eighties. He then moved back to Ontario to begin Vanhaven Holsteins and built up an elite herd, milking 40 cows. Over the years Vanhaven has garnered numerous All Canadian & All American awards. The herd was recognized for producing top quality breeding females as well as producing several bulls that went in to A.I. studs. The herd was dispersed last year and was one of the highest averaging herd dispersals in all of Canada.
In 1997 he also established “Vanhaven Auctions and Exports Ltd” which specialized in purebred dairy sales both at the home farm auction facility as well as on-farm dispersals. Private treaty sales and the export of live cattle & embryos to foreign countries is also part of the business.
Garry is an official judge with Holstein Canada, having judged shows across Canada as well as foreign assignments in the U.S., Brazil, Columbia, Peru, Mexico & Portugal.
Garry, his wife Beverly and family moved to Saskatoon this past May to be closer to his wife’s family, he looks forward to being part of the Select Sires Genervations team and serving all of Saskatchewan’s dairy & beef customers.
