Thousands of gallons of milk will be going to people in need, thanks to the generosity of the community.
As part of the Great American Milk Drive, more than 13,470 gallons of milk were donated to Feeding South Dakota to be distributed to families in need across eastern South Dakota.
The milk drive was a partnership between Hy-Vee, Dean Foods, Avera, Jim and Megan Jarding, and Results Radio.
Over the month of September, customers at all Hy-Vee stores had the opportunity to donate milk at checkout.
Officials with Feeding South Dakota said the milk donation from this drive is the largest they have ever received.
