Oklahoma State Sale Averages $3,077

The Oklahoma State Sale was held on Friday, April 8th at the Payne Co. Expo Center in Stillwater, OK in conjunction with the Southern Spring National Holstein & Jersey Show. A very attractive lineup of Holsteins and Jerseys held the attention of a large crowd and when the gavel came down for the last time, 62 lots averaged $3,077.

Top seller on the day at $17,200 was Lot 1 – Ms Milksource Thndr Blair, an OCD Thunder Struck summer yearling out of Jacobs Control Brisk EX-94, the Reserve All-American Junior 3-Year-Old in 2020. Her 2nd dam is the well-known Jacobs Goldwyn Britany EX-96-2E-CAN, the Reserve All-Canadian 4-Year-Old in 2011. This big, fancy white heifer was consigned by Milksource, Ransom Rail and Laurie Fischer of Kaukauna, WI and was purchased by Will Steinhagen of Young America, MN.

Lot 16 – Siemers A Hot 36141-Red – was the 2nd high seller at $7,800. A fall calf sired by Farnear Altitude-Red, she is out of Heatherstone Redhot-Red EX-92, the All-American R&W Junior 3-Year-Old in 2017, the same year she was Intermediate and Reserve Grand Champion at the International Red & White Show. Consigned by Siemers Holsteins of Newton, WI, she was purchased by Katie Martin of Cuba City, WI.

Hilrose Thunderstuck Pokadot – Lot 28 – sold for $5,250, good for the third-high selling spot. A Thunder Struck fall calf consigned by Jeff Brantmeier of Hilbert, Wisconsin, Pokadot is out of a VG King Doc dam, then back into a deep family with numerous show winners. She went home with Mattie Doman of Carney, OK.

The top selling Jersey consignment  at $4,800 was Lot 66 from Ron & Christy Ratliff of Garnett, KS. Ratliff Victorious Bell-ET, a fall calf sired by River Valley Victorious out of Spatz Applejack Bailey EX-91% found her last bid from Jonathon Osinga of Hico, TX.  Bailey had a very nice show career and traces back into a deep family from Waverly Farm.

The sale was managed by Chupp Auction Service and sponsored by the Oklahoma Holstein Association and Oklahoma Jersey Association.

As part of the dinner festivities at the show, the Bobby Griggs Award was presented to Joseph Osinga of Hico, TX. The award recognizes someone who has worked to make the Southern Spring National Shows a success and given their support to it over the years. Bobby Griggs was on hand to present the award to Joseph and Jennifer Osinga.
