Everyone at Cowsmopolitan sends their most sincere condolences and sympathies to the family and friends of Wisconsin Holstein Breeder Joie Skarda of Soldiers Grove, WI, who passed away on February 9th.

Obituary for Wisconsin Holstein Breeder Joie SkardaJoie L. Skarda, age 78, of rural Soldiers Grove, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday February 9th 2017.  He was born on September 11th, 1938 to James and Alma (Hatfield) Skarda. He attended Ontario High School and graduated in 1957. On November 8th, 1958, he married the love of his life Sandra J. Neprud. He worked at Waukegen-Abbot Laboratories until moving to Soldiers Grove in 1963. He was a hard-working farmer his entire life. He won Crawford Co. Young Famer of the Year. He was an active member of 4-H and was proud to be a leader. He was also a proud member of the United Methodist Church in Viroqua. Joie was a lifelong member of the F.O.E Post 2707. He was very proud of serving in the Eagles and was voted into Eagles Hall of Fame. Joie loved to hunt on his farm, especially rabbits.

Joie is survived by his loving wife of 58 years; Sandra. 3 children; Alan Skarda, Douglas (Lisa) Skarda, and Amy (Billy) Alexander. 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild, as well as many other family.

Joie was preceded in death by his son, Jeffery Skarda, as well as his parents and other family and friends

Friends and family may call for a visitation on Sunday, February 12th from 1-4 p.m. at the Soldiers Grove Methodist Church with a prayer service at 4 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 19th at the Viroqua Methodist church at 1 p.m. Friends may also call after 12 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Bear Creek Cemetery, rural La Farge at a later date. Online condolences may be left at www.thorsonfuneralhome.com.
