Obituary for Harold Krause

The funeral service for Harold Krause, a resident of the Care Center in Clarissa and formerly of Eagle Bend, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Eagle Bend. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Harold was born in Oriska, North Dakota on December 15th, 1922. He was baptized on January 21st, 1923 at Zion Lutheran Church in Oriska, ND. He was united in marriage to Pearl Mae Triebenbach on June 22,1946 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Eagle Bend, MN. They made their home on the family farm west of Eagle Bend.

Harold was a loving husband and father to six children. He graduated from Eagle Bend High School, and took short-wave radio courses after high school in Glenwood, MN. He took over the family farm when his dad died at a young age, and spent his working years doing dairy and crop farming. He started farming in the 1940s with a team of horses until he purchased a tractor later on after they were married. Harold was named to the Minnesota Livestock Hall of Fame in 1991. He enjoyed traveling with Pearl, spending winters in Mission, Texas, gardening, reading, and showing registered Milking Shorthorns at the local, State, and national dairy cattle shows. He loved to share his garden produce with his friends and family, or really anyone who stopped by their home in the summertime.

Harold is survived by his children: Elaine Sommer, Center City, MN, Norman (Julie) Krause, Staples, MN, Dianne (Randy) LaVoie, Clarissa, MN, Curtis (Louanne) Krause, Como, TX, and Karen (Mark) Swenson, Plymouth, MN. He is also survived by his brother Edwin, Faribault, MN, and brothers-in law, Harold (Ardella) Triebenbach, Bob Triebenbach, and Harland Kuhlman. Harold has 15 grandchildren: Carrie (Ryan) Brandt, Mark (Kelley) Sommer, Kristina (Andy) Hering, Andrea (John) Lundgren, Kate (Bret) Eliason, Jon Krause, Alyssa (Jeff) Morlock, Mark (Kelli) LaVoie, Joseph LaVoie, Clayton Krause, Theresa Krause, Mikayla Krause, Elise Krause, Laura (Ted) Leonard, and Michael (Megan) Swenson; 18 great-grandchildren: Gavin and Sophia Brandt, Oliver and Karis Sommer, Vivian and Jack Lundgren, Grant Hering, Ally, Will and Nadia Eliason, Hattie and Hazel LaVoie, Rory and Clara Morlock, Nathan, Gus and Micah Leonard, and Samuel Swenson.

Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl in 2014; his young daughter, Lorna Krause; his parents, Vernon and Minnie Krause; sisters, Mabel and Elvera; and a brother, Eugene.

Serving as pallbearers will be his grandchildren.

Christian burial will be at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Eagle Bend, MN.
