NAHC Barn Cow Award

The Northern Alberta Holstein Club is pleased to announce we have a new contest for members! The Barn Cow Award is geared for members who rarely or never bring theircows out to our club’s or other local shows. It will give these members a chance to show off their very best hard working barn cow of the club! Our judge is Erik Klugkist and he will travel with an NAHC executive member to the entered contestants’ farms starting Septermer 1-12th, 2014. There will be 5 classes, 1st lactation, 2nd lactation, 3rd lactation and 4th+ lactation and to make our contest unique, a 100, 000kg class. Cows are judged based on conformation amongst other entries throughout the club. The production class will be a mix of conformation and reading over production certificates. They have to be homebred and owned cows, and they do not have to be washed, clipped, and filled or uddered up very much, and must not have been exhibited at an All Western Show before. Just set the cow aside in a pen in the barn and she can be assessed. Entries close by Monday August 25th, 2014. If you are interested in it please contact one of our directors or send us an e-mail at [email protected] and we can get an entry form sent to you!

Digital Newsletters

The Northern Alberta Holstein Club is excited to launch our e-mail address. Starting with the Summer 2014 newsletter we will be e-mailing them rather than snail mail in order to help reduce the use of paper products. Our secretary will be using NAHC member e-mails that are listed in the 2012 Alberta Breeder Directory. If you have changed your e-mail since, please send your new address to [email protected] to receive your newsletter. We will still send out mail through Canada Post for members who don’t have or wish to use e-mail.
