New York State Dairy Princess Reflects on Unusual Year of Dairy Promotion

The 2020-2021 New York State Dairy Princess Natalie Vernon from Wayne County will crown her successor at the state pageant on Tuesday, February 16, at 6 p.m. The pageant will be broadcast virtually on American Dairy Association North East Facebook page.

“We’re very proud of what Natalie and her team were able to accomplish during their unusual year of dairy promotion,” said ADA North East CEO Rick Naczi. “In true dairy-farmer fashion, they used ingenuity, creativity and their dedication to the industry to reach thousands of consumers with positive dairy messaging.”

Along with state alternates Rachel Rouland from Monroe County and Erin Armitage from Washington County, Vernon launched the state princess program social media presence at NYS Dairy Princesses.

“The New York State Dairy Princess court never really had their own social media accounts before, and this team has worked hard to start from scratch and reach our communities in an entirely different way,” said Vernon.

Twelve county princesses will vie for the title of 2021-2022 New York State Dairy Princess. The new state princess will receive a $1,200 scholarship and will also support ADA North East strategies with the goal of building consumer confidence in dairy farmers and dairy products.

Vernon reminds the contestants, “As we know, dairy provides consumers with so many great nutrients, but none of that would be possible without the hard work of our dairy farmers to care for their animals as well as their land.”
