The first international dairy show hosting producers, breeders and equipment manufacturers and merchants from the dairy industry, will be held from November 5 to 8, 2014, on the site of the Saint-Hyacinthe Agricultural Fair.

 This dairy show will draw from the experience and success of the Saint-Hyacinthe Holstein Club, organizer of the International Holstein Québec Show for over 20 years. The international event will be called the Saint-Hyacinthe Supreme Dairy Show (in French, Suprême laitier ), with reference to the Supreme Championship held as part of all major agricultural fairs in Quebec; it promises to surpass all others in the dairy industry. It will host some 800 dairy animals from five different breeds originating from all across Canada, the United States as well as foreign visitors.

The event is meant to foster trade and business opportunities among all stakeholders in the dairy industry: dairy producers, breeders and merchants.

Like the Canadian Livestock Genetics Association, the Supreme Dairy Show would like to maximize access to the global market for the industry and Canadian genetics as well. It would also like to predict, identify, prevent or eliminate all commercial and sanitary barriers preventing Canadian dairy animals from having access to global markets.

In addition to the expertise which makes up an important part of the event’s program, there will be sales of the best dairy animals and sales of embryos. Delegations from several countries are interested in taking part in the event. The Supreme Dairy Show will also include a series of conferences and forums attended by representatives from major research centers, renowned education institutions, and dairy breeders associations.

The City of Saint-Hyacinthe and the site of the Supreme Dairy Show are conveniently located along Highway 20, between Montreal and Quebec City, less than 50 kilometers from Montreal, thus providing easy access for visitors and exhibitors.

The site will include a 7,500 square meter building to house dairy equipment exhibitors; three buildings covering over 10,000 square meters for cattle housing facilities, including washing and milking installations; as well as conference rooms and forums, and some 3,000 parking spaces. A truly exceptional site for such an event.

In addition, exhibitors and participants will have access to hotels, offering over 500 rooms, less than one kilometer away from the venue.

Members of the Board of Directors are very proud to launch this new event which fits in with the mission of the Société d’Agriculture de Saint-Hyacinthe, to promote agriculture and agribusiness.

By holding this agricultural event, the City of Saint-Hyacinthe will position itself as an ideal place to host major agricultural and agribusiness events thereby consolidating its role and title of Canadian food technopole.

Hyacinthe 2014. Mr. Fontaine is also a dairy farmer who became famous in the Holstein breed and, more recently, in the Jersey breed. Under his leadership, the launching of the Supreme Dairy Show will surpass all expectations.
