Minister Simon Coveney TD officially launches Emerald Expo 2014

The Minister for Agriculture, Marine and Food, Simon Coveney TD recently launched Emerald Expo 2014 in Agriculture House, Dublin, Ireland. This leading Dairy Show takes place at Cillin Hill, Kilkenny, on Saturday April 26. Minister Coveney said “the Department were delighted to be a major sponsor again for 2014 and wished Richard Whelan and the IHFA continued success with this prestigious event.”

It is organised by the Irish Holstein Friesian Association (www.IHFA.ie) in association with Alltech Ireland the major sponsor. This is an All Ireland and all dairy breeds event will have a prize fund of €25K, one of the biggest for any EU livestock event.

Emerald Expo will have 20 classes, six Championships and a prize fund of €25K, one of the biggest for any EU livestock event.

The show has the support of all the dairy breeds- Pure Friesian, Jersey and Shorthorn. The YMA members will bring an international flavour to the young stockmanship classes.

This All Ireland and All Dairy Breeds show on April 26th will again take place at Cillin Hill, Kilkenny.

This is an easily accessible and prime location with excellent exhibition, catering and parking facilities. 90% of all the dairy cattle in the Republic are located within 100 miles of this venue so it is an excellent site for the first dairy show of the season.(ROI)

New entrants to dairy farming or milk producers planning to expand can meet suppliers of dairy equipment, farm buildings, machinery etc.

As usual the animal feed/ health industry, breeding services and other Agri sectors will be well represented. Independent advice will also be available from Animal Health Ireland, farm organisations, Teagasc etc.

Families and students will all be well catered for and the organising committee are working on a number of attractions to ensure that this will be a great day out for all the family.

Saturday, April 26th is an excellent date as it better facilitates dairy farmers and show visitors. Most cows will have calved, are out on grass and silage harvesting is not in progress.

So milk producers will have more time to attend, network with other farmers, meet trade personnel and enjoy a well-deserved weekend break in the Marble City.

Lots of Trade Stands -Entry and Car Parking is Free

Major sponsors for Emerald Expo also include Elanco Animal Health, FBD Group, Gain Feeds & Glanbia Plc, Norbrook Laboratories, Novartis Animal Health, Volac Ireland and Zoetis. (Formerly Pfizer Animal Health). Other sponsors and major exhibitors include AIB Bank, Alta/Bova, Animax, Dairymaster, Dovea Genetics, Eurogene/LIC, KW Forage Systems, Lakeland Dairies, Packo Fullwood and Progressive Genetics/Semex.
