Each year the USJersey organizations pay tribute to the matriarchs of your herd in the Leading Living Lifetime Contest. The deadline for this year’s contest is March 1, 2022.
The Leading Living Lifetime Production Contest recognizes cows alive as of December 31, 2021, who produced a minimum of 225,000 lbs. milk, 10,000 lbs. fat or 8,000 lbs. protein. A copy of the DHI cow page of nominated cows must be sent to Erick Metzger showing they were alive as of December 31.
In 2021, 4W Pusher Lizzie, owned by Brittany Core, Salvisa, Ky., received the Ogston Trophy for lifetime milk production. Dutch Hollow Revel Diva-P, bred and owned by Karin Chittenden Couch of Dutch Hollow Farm, Schodack Landing, earned the High Lawn Trophy for lifetime fat production and the Edyvean Farm Trophy for lifetime protein production.
It was the first time for “Lizzie” to top the contest and the second year for “Diva-P.” “Lizzie” had lifetime totals of 312,124 lbs. milk, 13,523 lbs. fat and 11,100 lbs. protein. “Diva-P” had totals of 296,779 lbs. milk, 16,781 lbs. fat and 11,245 lbs. protein.
Youth Production Contest and Youth Achievement Deadlines also March 1
Also due on March 1 are nominations for the National Jersey Production Contest. The form is available on the USJersey website and can be submitted by clicking here.
