Type and show focused Makamoov Genetics of Reedsburg, WI has partnered with elite dairy genetic supplier and resource, Red Carpet Holsteins of Kirkland, IL. In an effort to combine the strengths of both parties and provide genetic opportunities for the Registered Holstein industry, Makamoov and Red Carpet are now partners on five elite cows.
Makamoov Genetics is owned by Matt and Kate Smith. With over 30 years combined experience in the registered dairy cattle industry and numerous All-American nominations during these years, Matt and Kate have worked with some of the industry’s top cows as well as developed a small herd focused on high type and show ring success. Red Carpet Holsteins is owned by the The Heinsohn Family of Kirkland, IL.
The operation consists of a milking herd of 400 and 2500 acres of crop land. Under the guidance of Johnathan Heinshon, Red Carpet has concentrated on a large scale IVF/flush program in recent years with focus being on deep pedigrees and high type including many past show ring favorites.
The knowledge and experience of Makamoov Genetics in cattle breeding, development and exposition paired with the genetic production resources of Red Carpet Holsteins will allow for embryo and live offerings from several top females in the industry. The IVF/flush program at Red Carpet Holsteins produces embryos eligible for international export, sending over 100 embryos to Germany, the Netherlands, the UK, France and Australia in 2018. The Red Carpet program is already providing genetic opportunities for breeders worldwide and this partnership will increase the offering.
