Koopycrest Mocha Ali Apple EX-90 continues to pile up the accolades, standing at the pinnacle of the Milking Shorthorn breed in Canada. With the release of 2016 production awards recently, the Canadian Milking Shorthorn Society is excited to share that Apple swept the major individual production awards they they present each year! They include:
- The Knottview Farm Award for highest kgs of fat in 305 days (530 kg)
- The Joseph Sullivan Award for highest kgs of protein in 305 days (389 kg
- The Dreymaur Award for highest three year average milk yield (12,574 kg ave in 1st, 2nd and 3rd lactations)
- The Highest Milk Producing Cow Award for the highest 305 day milk yield in Canada (12,329 kg)
Apple is also a past Canadian Milking Shorthorn Cow of the Year, a former National Show Grand Champion in 2013, and record holder for single lactation milk and protein production in 305 days, which she set in her second lactation. Apple is owned by Shawn Koopmans of Koopycrest Farm in Picton, Ontario. She is sired by Australian Illawarra sire Clarefield Mocha (marketed by Semex) and her dam is Rovin Derek Ali Accent-P EX, foundation of an accomplished cow family that has succeeded in both the USA and Canada.
Not surprisingly, Apple also was named a Class Leader for Five Year Olds in 2016 with this successful record. The other Class Leaders for 2016 (based on Composite BCA) were:

- Junior Three Year Old: Oceanbrae TP Jocelyn VG-87, owned by Oceanbrae Farms, Miscouche, PEI
- Senior Three Year Old: Eloc Pingerly Crunk VG-86, owned by Sandy Cole, Middle Musquodoboit, NS
- Four Year Old: Oceanbrae Logic Feather EX-92, owned by Oceanbrae Farms, Miscouche, PEI
- Mature Cow: Lyndale Hello Molly VG-88, owned by Lynmark Farms, Norwood, ON
Winning the Clydagh Trophy for the highest herd average for Composite BCA in 2016 was Oceanbrae Farms, owned by Fred and Matthew Barrett of Miscouche, PEI. On 34 completed records, the Oceanbrae herd averaged BCAs of 304-321-306.
Receiving the Semper Trophy for the second highest herd average for Composite BCA in 2016 was Prinsville Dairy Farms, owned by the Prinzen Family of Bloomfield, ON. On 27 completed records, the Prinsville herd averaged BCAs of 280-264-276.
