Just shy of her 20th birthday, Jersey great JIF Little Minnie passed away on December 4th. Little Minnie was an iconic cow in the breed, and a household name among Jersey breeders globally.
JIF Little Minnie EX96-4E was born December 21, 1995, and was bred by Myers Farm and Lynn Yocum, OH and was currently owned by Marcel Choiniere & Ferme Scottiere, QC. Sired by Jessie’s Imperial Fillpail, Little Minnie was out of Prides Sleeper Minnie.
Little Minnie is a proven brood cow, and is the mother of the popular sires Select-Scott Minister and Select-Scott Jade Jamal, along with several other sons in AI. She has achieved 12* brood cow status.
Little Minnie was a perennial contender in the showring, being named the Grand Champion at the Royal Winter Fair in 2002 and 2004, and was the Honorable Mention Grand Champion in 2007. She was named the All-Canadian Mature Cow in 2002 and 2004, and the Reserve All-Canadian in 2007, as well as being the Reserve All-Canadian 5 Year Old in 2001.
