As of January 1st, 2025, Jersey Canada will be implementing updated policy regarding animals with pending parentage verification. If parentage test results are not received by Jersey Canada within 12 months from the original request, the animal’s herdbook status will be adjusted from ‘pending’ to ‘recorded,’ meaning the animal’s breed purity status will be set at 0%, and the herdbook status of any progenies registered to the animal will be adjusted accordingly. If parentage test results are received by Jersey Canada at any time after this deadline, the herdbook status of the animal and any registered progeny will be updated accordingly.

Genomic Testing Permanently ReducedAs of January 1st, 2025, the administration fee charged by Jersey Canada for SNP results from genomic tests will permanently be reduced to $2 per result. The reduced fee will apply to test results received by Jersey Canada after January 1st.

The Jersey Canada Board of Directors approved this change to reflect the introduction of a new workflow that saves labour in processing the tests.
