What A Week in the Purebred Dairy Cattle Sale Ring!

The purebred business woke up and shook off the winter doldrums over the past week as sales across the US and Canada saw fantastic averages and sported notable high sellers whether they were live auctions or online events! A quick summary of sale reports from the first week of March:

Wickstrom Jersey Farms celebrated 50 years of Dupat genetics at their Decades of Dupat Sale held March 4, 2023 at the farm in Hilmar, CA. The sale featured elite genomic consignments and high-end Jersey and Holsteins consignments from around the country. Managed by Triple-T and Heath with the online assistance of Cowbuyer.com, 149 lots were hammered off, and at the end of the day, the sale averaged $8,926!

Lot 2G – $110,000 – Dupat Monster 26455-P-ET, a 10/22 Monster at GJPI +173, making her the #30 GJPI heifer in the breed and the #1 GJPI & CM$ polled female in the world.

Duckett Holsteins took a load of live cattle to Canada and settled in at the Elgin & Joan Craig Farm in Arthur, Ontario for another of their Select Your Success sales. Walker Dairy Sales handled the online sale bidding, and it was a corker of a sale with 42 lots averaging $9,783! Bidder and buyers came from across Canada, the US, Holland, and Germany.

The popular Purple Ribbon Classic, held annually at the Central Wisconsin State Fairgrounds in Marshfield, Wisconsin, achieved an all-time high sale average of $4550! The sale is limited to calves and heifers with no milking animals selling, and is managed by the Wood County Holstein club with a local sales force.

Blackjack Holsteins Double Down Sale
in Wykoff, MN presented another successful online sale with CattleClub.com from March 3-5, with a $6,456 average on 18 head.

The Pride of Washington Online Tag Sale was hosted by the Washington Holstein Association and managed online by Unique Designs and Marketing on March 1st & 2nd. Held annually in conjunction with the WHA Annual Meeting, the sale limits itself to about 20 lots. This year, 14 sold lots to 5 different US states and 1 Canadian province and averaged $3,736.

Bosdale Farms in Ontario offered a select 21 lots through their Future Excellence Online Tag Sale held on March 6th managed by Unique Designs and Marketing. At the end of the bid-off day, eight head had sold for an average of $5,031.

Cowbuyer.com presented a small but sweet sale of eight Brown Swiss heifers and one choice in the Swissconsin Spring Opportunities Sale on March 3rd. The nine live lots and choice averaged $2,292.

A small, but fun-loving group gathered in Aruba for the Fun in the Sun Sale Aruba Edition and at the end of sun-drenched day, the 50 lots of Holsteins & Jerseys that have a high-genomic focus grossed $1,646,350! The 44 Holstein lots averaged $36,373, and the 5 Jersey lots averaged $63,375. The Cattle Exchange managed the sale with online bidding handled by Cowbuyer.com.

The 2023 Ohio Holstein Convention Sale was a virtual event held at the Wingate Holstein in St. Clairsville, OH on Friday evening, March 3rd. Hosted by the Ohio Holstein Association and managed by Daniel Brandt Pedigrees & Marketing with Cowbuyer.com overseeing the online bidding on the diverse lots of live animals, embryos and IVF sessions. 31 lots averaged $3,130.
