Holstein UK are delighted to be taking four Holstein Young Breeders to Montichiari, Italy, to compete in the 10th annual Open Junior Show.
The teams of two senior and two junior competitors comprise of:
Senior Team: Neil Sloan and Will Horsley
Junior Team: Rory Scott and William Neale
The show is taking place from Thursday 20th to Saturday 22nd October and for the first time, will take place in Montichiari having previously been held in Cremona. The esteemed Open Junior Show is credited for providing an extremely high level of competition in its clipping, showmanship and stock judging elements and many HYB members have had great success at the show in the past. The event, now in its tenth year, also offers a fantastic opportunity for young breeders to socialise and network with like-minded individuals, as well as getting a feel for European competition. Hosted by AGAFI, the competition will take place in the lead up to the 70th National Holstein Show.
The team will arrive at the showground on the Thursday and be assigned a heifer to get familiar with before the clipping contest on Friday morning. Saturday will see the competitors go head-to-head in the main ring in the showmanship competition. Other elements include stock judging and a technical quiz with competitors being scored throughout and prizes awarded for the best individual and team performances.
