Holstein Canada is pleased to announce the two judges selected to officiate the 2013 National Black and White Holstein Show and 2013 Red and White National Holstein Show during the 2013 Royal Agricultural Winter Fair (RAWF):
2013 National Black and White Holstein Show Judge: John Crowley, Hastings, ON, Canada John Crowley, with wife Cynthia, and four children, Christina, Justin, Ryan, and Vanessa own Crovalley Holsteins in Hastings, Ontario, a 70-cow Master Breed herd. Their current herd classification includes 35 EX, 70 VG, and 6 GP. Crovalley, a name that has become synonymous in the show ring across Canada and the United States, has used shows as a vital marketing tool to sell livestock and embryos internationally. The herd has garnered over 60 All-Canadian, 100 All-Ontario, and 9 All-American nominations including the recent 2011 Unanimous All-American Junior Best Three Females and first Junior herd at the 2011 RAWF and WDE. John has judged in almost all Canadian provinces including officiating major shows such as the Calgary Dairy Championship show, Landmark Feeds Manitoba Summer Show, Maxville Holstein Show, Eastern Ontario/Western Quebec Kemptville Championship Show, and Atlantic Summer Show. Crowley has also judged in numerous US states and has travelled extensively abroad judging in countries such as South Korea, Argentina, Peru, Ecuador, Portugal, and Brazil. John has had the privilege of judging the Jersey Futurity Class at the RAWF and looks forward to returning to the RAWF in the capacity as the National Black and White Holstein Show Official Judge.
2013 National Red and White Holstein Show Judge: Bloyce Thompson, Frenchfort, PEI, Canada Bloyce Thompson owns and operates Eastside Farm Inc. with his wife Terri and children Taylor, Alyson, and Jenell in Frenchfort, Prince Edward Island. Awarded a Master Breeder shield in 2006, this 70-cow herd has achieved several All-Canadian and All-American nominations over the years. Recent success of co-bred Eastside Lewisdale Gold Missy (EX-95), Grand and Supreme Champion at both the 2011 RAWF and 2011 World Dairy Expo and unanimous All-Canadian and All-American Five-Year-Old in 2011, has propelled the herd to success, selling embryos and livestock from this highly sought-after family. Eastside was proud to be named Premier Breeder at the 2011 RAWF. Bloyce has judged internationally in countries such as Portugal, Peru, United Kingdom and Brazil. His judging experience has taken him to almost every province in Canada where he has judge many major shows including the Quebec International Red & White Holstein Show, Western Canadian Livestock Expo, and Autumn Opportunity. Thompson is excited for the opportunity to officiate the 2013 National Red and White Holstein Show in 2013.
The National Holstein Shows held during the RAWF each year garner close to 420 of North America’s best animals. The 2013 RAWF will be held from November 1-10, 2013 with the National Red and White Holstein Show tentatively scheduled for Thursday, November 7th, 2013 and the National Black and White Holstein Show set to take place on Friday, November 8th, 2013.
