It’s a GOLD for the UK! A Victorious Return from Italy for the HYB Team

As Holstein UK return to British soil, the results are in from the Open Junior Show at Cremona, Italy and its triumphant for Britain as Rosie Dennison from Lancashire brings home gold and her fellow team members also excel with numerous placings.

Senior competitors James Doherty (Shropshire) and William Booth (Lancashire) were joined by junior competitors Jodie Nutsford (Western) and Rosie Dennison (Lancashire) to represent Holstein Young Breeders (HYB) in the prestigious cattle show in Italy. Starting on Thursday 25 th October, competitors participated in the clipping classes, followed by stock judging where they presented reasons in front of all other competitors. The Friday saw the heifer and showmanship classes before returning home on Saturday 28th with results to be very proud of!

It was a fantastic effort all round; in the Senior Showmanship competition James was placed 9th and Will came 17th . For the Junior team, Rosie hit the top spot claiming first place and Jodie was placed 11th . Judge Thomas Ender from Switzerland described Rosie as an ‘easy winner’ for her flawless performance, being
smooth on the halter, professional throughout and leading her cow to exceptional leg placement. In the clipping competitions Rosie was placed 5 th and Jodie 12 th and for the Seniors, Will excelled with 3rd position, closely followed by James in a credible 5th place.

She said; “Holstein Young Breeders is extremely proud of our four competitors, Rosie, Jodie, James and Will who all excelled in cattle showing, judging, knowledge and clipping on an international stage! Coming back from this highly competitive and demanding show with so many outstanding placings, including one gold, is real testament to the quality of our young breeders here in the UK. The three days spent in Cremona provided our competitors with valuable learning, showmanship development and confidence building – it has been an exceptional show. Well done to team UK!”
