Harrisburg – The Center for Dairy Excellence invites dairy industry professionals who want to better understand the Dairy Margin Protection Program, made available through the 2014 Farm Bill, can learn more from nationally-recognized experts during a special evening session on Tuesday, September 23.
This session will be held from 4 – 6:30 p.m. on September 23 at the Central Penn Conference Center at 600 Valley Road in Summerdale, Pa. Dinner is included with the meeting and will follow the program.
Mark Stephenson and Chuck Nicholson, both considered national industry experts in Farm Bill policy and dairy markets, will provide an introduction to a new decision tool available to help producers make decisions regarding the Margin Protection Program. Participants will also have the opportunity to use the tool and evaluate best practice actions in dairy farm case studies.
Dr. Mark Stephenson, the director of dairy policy analysis at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, is well respected for his research on milk assembly and processing costs and efficiencies, as well as dairy policy.
Dr. Chuck Nicholson, clinical associate professor with Penn State Smeal College of Business, has developed numerous economic models to analyze dairy price cycles, origins and policy responses to price variability.
Those who pre-register for the Dairy Financial & Risk Management Conference, being held the same day, will be offered a complimentary registration to attend the evening program. Walk-in registrations to the financial conference or those registering specifically for this evening session will be charged a $20 registration fee.
