Foundation Genetics, Listowel, Ont., is pleased to announce that they have forged a new alliance which will expand their offering of breed leading genetics. Foundation Genetics has signed an agreement withEvolution International of France to be the exclusive distributor and marketer in Canada of Evolution’s dairy and beef genetics bull line-up. As part of the agreement, Foundation will also market dairy goat semen from Evolution.
“At a time where our industry continues to see change in the form of alliances and interorganizational realignment, I am very pleased with this new agreement which will make Foundation Genetics a key competitor,” says David Brand, General Manager of Foundation Genetics Service Inc. “Our vision and corporate strategy directly aligns with our new partner from a marketing and distribution strategy that will complement our current offering of dairy genetics to customers across Canada and in international markets.”
Foundation Genetics has been marketing genetics from highly ranked genomic and proven dairy sires to dairymen in Canada and around the world since 1999. They also provide housing and semen collection and processing services for bulls owned by other customers.
“With the recent growth of Foundation Genetics, we have added key personnel to multiple areas of our business, including distribution, finance and more full-time sales staff domestically. These areas will continue to be a key focus of our company over the next several months as we expand our product line to include semen from Evolution,” states Brand.
Evolution International, based in Rennes, France, was created in January 2013 when three of the leading A.I. cooperatives in western France united to form one of the largest A.I. companies in the world. The cooperative has 33,000 member-farmers and distributes nearly 5 million doses of semen annually. EVOLUTION also owns the biggest genomic testing laboratory in Europe which employs 50 people based close to Paris. EVOLUTION has the biggest Holstein program in Europe and one of the biggest in the world genomically testing 3000 bulls and 3000 heifers each year.
