Customer Information Specialist

Programmer Analyst

The Holstein Association USA, Inc. is the world’s largest dairy cattle breed organization and maintains the records for all Registered Holsteins®, including the animal ancestry, identity, ownership, and performance information on more than 20 million Holsteins. Holstein Association USA, located in Brattleboro, VT, is a dynamic, innovative, growing organization and is currently seeking a Programmer Analyst for our Information Services Department.

The Programmer/Analyst will design, develop, test, maintain and modify software programs according to specifications, verifying logic, performing necessary debugging, and writing related documentation.  The Programmer/Analyst will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help maximize the benefit of IT system investments.

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree; and a minimum of 5+ years of related experience; or equivalent, understanding of systems and technical architectures, and ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment. Demonstrated business experience in programming, requirements analysis, and system design, with proficiencies in relational databases (i.e. Informix, MS SQL Server, MySQL, etc.) and web development technologies utilizing C++, PHP and Java is required. Knowledge or experience with Microsoft .NET framework and Visual Studio software development tools is desired.

The individual for this position must be a true team player with excellent verbal and written communications skills. Prior experience within the dairy industry or agri-business is highly preferred.

Holstein Classifier

Holstein Association USA, Inc. is looking for an energetic, self-starter to become a member of our classification team with primary responsibility to objectively evaluate dairy cattle in the Classification program. The successful candidate will have an extensive dairy background and knowledge of the dairy industry. Competence in accurately evaluating dairy cattle conformation, the ability to maintain composure and self confidence under pressure, excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently and effectively with little direct supervision are essential qualities. Participation in a collegiate dairy judging team is a plus. Extensive travel required as territory is the mid-west.

Network Administrator

Holstein Association USA, located in Brattleboro, VT, is a dynamic, innovative, growing organization and is currently seeking a Network Administrator for our Information Services Department.

The Network Administrator will ensure the stable operation of the Holstein Association USA computer network. This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network hardware, software, and communications. The individual will also analyze and resolve end use hardware and software computer problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training as required.

The position requires an associate’s degree in Computer Science or its equivalent. Requires at least 3-5 years of experience in Information Technology or in a related area. Working knowledge of current network protocols, operating systems and standards is required. Strong background with PC hardware, Microsoft Windows (workstation and server), Novell NetWare, UNIX (preferably HP-UX) and Linux, VMWare/VSphere, and major office automation products. Strong communication skills, customer service orientation, ability to work in a highly skilled collaborative environment, and the ability to work well with others in a team environment is a must. After hours on-call support is required. Microsoft, Cisco or other IT-related certifications desired.

Experience with relational databases such as Informix, MS SQL, MySQL and experience with HTML, XML, SQL, Java, Web services and Internet technologies required. Additionally, knowledge and experience with Microsoft Net Framework and Visual Studio software development tools, along with competency in the use of MS Office Software required.
