Dairy Farmers Encouraged To Apply For Local Recognition Awards

Dairy farmers in the American Dairy Association North East’s six-state region are encouraged to apply for the Dairying for Tomorrow awards. The awards recognize farmers’ production practices that will help sustain the dairy industry now and into the future.

Awards will be given in three categories: animal care, community outreach and environmental stewardship.

“We want our farmers to know their efforts to produce high-quality milk are appreciated and critical to maintaining a positive image for the industry,” said ADA North East CEO Rick Naczi. “The awards recognize the dedication to the care of their animals and land, and to being a good neighbor in the local community.”

Winners and honorable mention winners will be selected in each category and will receive an on-farm photoshoot which will be made available to the winners and will be used by ADA North East in social media campaigns and educational projects.

Additionally, top winners in each category will receive a donation of $1,000 in their name to one of two ADA North East retail or school initiatives, which drive dairy sales and develop young consumers’ enjoyment of dairy. Options include $1,000 in dairy products to a regional food bank selected by the winner, or $1,000 to a local school selected by the winner to implement a yogurt smoothie program.

Awards will be presented during the dairy awards breakfast at the New York State Fair or the ADA North East dairy farmer luncheon at Ag Progress Days in Pennsylvania, depending on location of recognized farms. Winners will be notified in advance and invited to attend the award presentation.

Applications are available here. Contact Callie Curley at [email protected], for more information about the awards.
