Holstein Canada, Brantford, Ont., has released the names of the four cows who will be vying for the 2014 “Cow of the Year” title. The four finalists are:
* Belfast M Goldwyn Shelly (Ex-92-15*), bred by Belfast Holstein Enr., Saint-Patrice, Que., and Ferme Maryclerc Inc., Sainte-Claire, Que., and owned by Donnanview Farms Ltd., Stirling, Ont., and Arcadia Farms, Codrington, Ont.
* Dulet James Carlass (Ex-90-4E-15*), bred by Ferme Dulet Inc., Suzanne Ouellet and Francis Dumais, Saint-Pascal, Que., and owned by Ferme Jolicap Inc., Melanie Bergeron and Jean-Francois Richard, Cap Saint-Ignace, Que.
* Walnutlawn Gibson Jessica (Ex-94-3E-4*), bred and owned by Walnutlawn Farms Limited, Tavistock, Ont.
* Rainyridge Lee Candice (Ex-95-2E-10*), bred by Ronald Boerchers, Laurier, Man., and owned by Ronald Boerchers, James Valley Hutterian Mutual Corp., Elie, Man., and Mark Henry, Alexander, Man.
The winner will be announced during Holstein Canada’s annual meeting on April 11, 2015 in Fredericton, N.B.
