The Cattle Information Service (CIS) is thrilled to welcome new dairy expertise to its team with the appointment of Amanda Wilkes as Assistant Area Manager.
Covering Staffordshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Warwickshire and the West Midlands, Amanda will be meeting with and supporting the network of CIS milk recorders – as well as developing connections with farming customers using CIS services.
Amanda is from a farming family and her career spanned 32 years as a Police Officer, working in several specialist departments. After retirement Amanda took a complete change in direction to pursue a more agricultural career path and joined CIS as a contract milk recorder.
Amanda Wilkes says; “With my farming family connections I have a grounded understanding of the demands of farming – and what excites me the most about my new role is being out on farm, meeting people and learning about their techniques. I am looking forward to developing my network of farming customers and supporting and advising on the milk recording service.”
Sue Joyce, CIS Area Manager, added; “Amanda is an excellent addition to the CIS team. Milk recording is one of the most important services that CIS offers farmers, helping them to make informed decisions about their herds from feeding to breeding. Our milk recorders visit farms on a regular basis to take milk samples which are then delivered to our laboratory in Shropshire. As Assistant Area Manager Amanda will be liaising with our recorders, ensuring we’re delivering the best possible service for our customers.”
