Christian Staub passes away

Peacefully, on December 4th, 2013, Christian Staub passed away at the age of 78 years.  He is survived by his loving wife, Alice; four daughters and one son:
Barbara of Edmonton,
Katharina (Tim) of Sherwood Park,
Margareth (Peter) of Switzerland,
Magdalena (Mark) of Edmonton,
and Martin (Heidi) of Edmonton;
eleven grandchildren; two sisters Anna and Margrit of Switzerland.

Predeceased by brothers Barthli and Mathis in Switzerland.

Christian Staub was an active Holstein breeder in the Millet area from 1981- 1995 and a member of the Northern Alberta Holstein Club. Christian established Staubhaven Holsteins in 1977, the year the family emigrated from Switzerland where Christian and his wife Alice had an established herd of Brown Swiss.  During his time in Millet, Christian and the family built up a successful dairy operation.  A number of cows were exported to the UK and visitors to the farm were numerous during these years.  He enjoyed the company and Alice was a great host.  Christian struggled with his health for some time until he was finally diagnosed with Parkinson’s in early 1994.  The chronic illness took its toll on Christian and the farm had to be sold in 1995. He was a proud dairy farmer, father, grandfather and friend.  He will be missed.  The family would like to thank all the friends that have visited and asked about him over the years. May his memory be eternal.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at The Good Samaritan Society – Southgate Care Centre.

A Memorial Service for Christian will be held on Saturday, December 14th, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, 11223 – 51 Avenue, Edmonton.  Reverend Rod Adamson officiating.  Memorial donations in Christian’s memory may be made directly to The Good Samaritan Society – Southgate Care Centre, or Parkinson Alberta.
