The Chinese Ag Ministry has released some details about their plan to increase domestic milk production and consumption. The nation announced plans earlier this year to reach 45 million tons of milk production by 2025. Chinese media say the government will offer dairy farmers lower utility fees and cheaper borrowing costs, plus preferential access to land.
The Chinese government reportedly will help build cooperatives and distribution systems for the milk. They will also promote the consumption of milk and dairy products.
A document from the Chinese Agriculture Ministry earlier this year says they want their dairy industry revitalized by 2025, but want to see 99% of products up to standards and 75% of livestock waste recycled by 2020.
